Properties
Appearance and properties: colorless crystal or white powder. Specific gravity is 1.69. It is insoluble in alcohol and soluble in 0.5 parts of water and its aqueous solution presents neutral (pH6.5-8.0). Its anhydride is powder that is soluble in water and hardly soluble in alcohol.

Stability: stable. Incompatible with strong acid, strong oxidant, iodine, and mercury.

Uses
The product is mainly used as fixing agent in photography; as reducing agent of dichromate in tanning; neutralizer and mordant of nitrogenous tail gas; and bleaching agent of straw and wool.
